The profile of your sand dune
transect, rocky shore transect or any transect can be obtained quite easily.
You need

measuring poles (eg metre rule)

a measuring tape or measuring string
-
a spirit level to ensure the tape/string is level
-
3 or 4 students to make and record the measurements
