Most objects will keep moving or remain at rest (not moving) unless they are acted on by an unbalanced force. This is Newtons First Law. 

Inertia is the measure of how hard it is to make an object change its movement. The inertia is proportional to the mass of the object. It's harder to move an elephant than a mouse!
