Gears

A gear is made from a toothed wheel and an axle.

A gear train consists of two or more gears, with the teeth meshed together. 
When one gear turns, its teeth push on the teeth of the next gear, causing it to rotate in the opposite direction. 
  • The gear that turns first is called the driving gear. 
  • The gear that is turned is called the driven gear.
