Third Class Levers

A lever is simple machine that uses the turning effect of a force to make a task easier.

  • In a third class lever 
      •  the load and the effort are on the same side of the fulcrum 
      • the effort is closer to the fulcrum than the load
      • the effort and load are in opposite directions
    • a third class lever is a speed  multiplier
      • you can move a load through a greater distance than the effort moves in the same time
      • since speed is equal to distance moved divided by time taken, the  load moves at a greater speed than the effort.
